Preserving the Best Interests of Franchise and Business Clients for Over 25 Years

Welcome Associate Benjamin S. Van Airsdale

Carter & Tani is pleased to announce the newest member of our team, associate Benjamin S. Van Airsdale, who joined us in September. Ben joins experienced franchise and business attorneys and founding partners Doris Carter and Christine Tani, as well as associate Alissa Carter Verson, who has been with our firm since 2016.

Ben’s practice brings the firm broad-based experience in buying and selling businesses as well as general business transactions. While Ben is a relative newcomer to franchise law, his previous experiences in the practice of business and corporate law bolsters the counsel he provides to the firm’s franchise clientele. He virtually attended this year’s ABA Forum on Franchising.

Having been in private practice and previously having served as in-house counsel for Harley-Davidson Financial Services, Ben understands the issues faced by businesses and consumers alike, throughout a wide variety of industries.  Ben has experience providing advice and counsel to business organizations and their owners regarding business entity selection, formation, and start-up, including commercial contract negotiation; small business financing and loan documentation; trademarks and licensing; data privacy; general employment matters; insurance; regulatory and compliance matters; merger, acquisition, and divestiture transactions; and general business succession planning.

Ben and Alissa attended Chicago-Kent College of law at the same time, but surprisingly did not cross paths.

Carter & Tani will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the firm this coming January. Our firm has extensive experience representing franchisors, subfranchisors, master franchisees, area developers, franchisees and businesses.
