As a new addition to the Carter and Tani team, Ben’s practice brings the firm broad-based experience in buying and selling businesses as well as general business transactions. While Ben is a relative newcomer to franchise law, his previous experiences in the practice of business and corporate law bolsters the counsel he provides to the firm’s franchise clientele.
Having been in private practice and previously having served as in-house counsel for Harley-Davidson Financial Services, Ben understands the issues faced by businesses and consumers alike, throughout a wide variety of industries. Ben has experience providing advice and counsel to business organizations and their owners regarding business entity selection, formation, and start-up, including commercial contract negotiation; small business financing and loan documentation; trademarks and licensing; data privacy; general employment matters; insurance; regulatory and compliance matters; merger, acquisition, and divestiture transactions; and general business succession planning.
Typical of a native Michigander, Ben enjoys spending time outdoors through all four seasons. As a former college soccer player and current soccer fanatic, he spends many evenings playing throughout the Chicagoland area. Ben also likes to go on runs or practice yoga to unwind from a long day at the office.
